The Plan Increases Residential Property Taxes
The Plan Eliminates 20,000+ Jobs
The Plan Increases Transit Congestion
The City of Woodbury currently has 1,575 acres assigned to "Places to Work" zoning; which is approximately 7% of all land use within the city. There are currently roughly 18,000 jobs the city, with a total population of around 72,000. The city needs more jobs!
The 2040 plan reduces "Places to Work" zoning by over 300 acres, from 1,575 acres to 1,263 acres; that's roughly 20% of all "Places to Work" zoning. An additional 30% reduction will occur through "Mixed Use" conversions from "Places to Work" zoning to "Places to Shop" zoning. This will remove an additional 380 acres from the non-residential tax base. Overall the 2040 plan removes over a square mile of "Places to Work". Yet we need to add 19,000 jobs that pay over $23/hr to meet estimated growth according to the Metropolitan Council.
Here's the raw number excerpted from both the 2030 Plan and the newly proposed 2040 Plan; the new plan is messed up...
