Transparency

The City of Woodbury asked to charge fees to even look at public data and approved the hiding public data plan with no discussion. The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) currently guarantees access to public information from government agencies.

Citizens need access to public data to participate in government and hold government accountable.

Data provided by the City of Woodbury varies by 25% from equivalent data published by the State of Minnesota. In 2015, the State of Minnesota reported 52 loss fires in Woodbury, for over $6,000,000 in losses, but the City of Woodbury reported only 41 fires.

The City of Woodbury reports a 25% drop in even getting to emergencies on time, dropping from a 96% response rate to just a successful 77% response (2013 to 2015, the most current year published).

The 2040 Comprehensive Plan was not available to read before the Public Hearings on that Plan.

Citizens need access to the public data to participate in government and hold government accountable.
